Overview Ooty-Coonoor

Ooty is a popular hill resort in the state of Tamil Nadu in Southern India in the Nilgiri Hills which is 86 km north of Coimbatore and 128 km south of Mysore. The town is connected by the Nilgiri ghat roads and Nilgiri Mountain Railway. Its natural environment attracts tourists and it is a popular summer destination. The weather is very pleasant with 15-20°C around the year and dropping 0°C during winter. By Air : The nearest Airport is Coimbatore International Airport, which is 95kms from Ooty. Coimbatore Airport is well connected to major cities like Delhi, Kozhikode, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad by various domestic airline.

By Train : The nearest railway station is Mettupalyam, 40 kilometres from Ooty. There are many trains running from Chennai, Coimbatore, Mysore and Bangalore for Mettupalyam. You can also board the heritage train known as the Nilgiri Mountain train which takes you uphill on an exciting journey towards Ooty.

By Bus : Ooty is a popular tourist destination of South India. You can get both government and private buses from Bangalore, Mysore and Chennai to Ooty. This overnight journey by buses is quite comfortable.
